For the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby, a bold, contemporary suite of marks were produced in attempt of reaching a broader, youthful audience. As the premiere event in the sport of horse racing, it is important that each year's identity give the fans something fresh and unique while maintaining the rich history and tradition the event is built upon.
Both the Derby and Oaks marks harness palettes reflective of the spring 2013 color forecast.
